For the third straight year, premium cigars AND wine will be featured in the county’s premiere cigar and wine event: Crush & Roll West. Hundreds are expected to turn out September 16 and 17 at the Paso Robles Fairgrounds to taste the best premium wines and cigars in the world. Cigar and wine tasting and cigar rolling demonstrations will entertain and delight, as cigar manufacturers from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras and Costa Rica will be on hand to provide their hand crafted cigars.

For even more fun, we will feature an exciting inaugural poker tourney with great prizes. There will also be entertainment, raffles of cigars, wines and accessories, and educational seminars.

Cost for the 2-day event is just $125 per person and will include wine and cigar tasting, music, live and silent auctions, raffles, seminars, a commemorative wine glass, and more.

Crush & Roll is quickly becoming one of the most popular cigar festivals, and with good reason. It’s attracting COUPLES. Why? Because the festival attracts wine connoisseurs who find out that they also like cigars, and cigar aficionados who enjoy vino. "I am always pleasantly surprised by how many wine drinkers are newly exposed to fine handmade cigars and how many cigar smokers are newly exposed to premium wines. Each year I speak to more people who have smoked their very first cigar at our event," says David “Doc” Diaz, one of the event promoters. “There are so many similarities between the two industries: both are harvestable products, both are blended, fermented, aged, and can be enhanced with proper aging. These are two artisanal crafts and they make excellent partners.”

The festival is priced right too. Tickets are $125 and get you cigars, wine, and a one-year complimentary membership to Cigar Rights of America (one of the event’s sponsors) and all the other festivities of a great event.

Part of the proceeds for Crush & Roll West will go to this year’s benefactor: Project Mañana, a non-profit humanitarian organization dedicated to bettering the lives of impoverished children, their families and communities through nutrition, education, and guidance.

For more information, visit the event website at: http://www.crushandrollwest.com, or

El Perrito War of FlavorsRichmond, VA--Team La Gloria® presents El Perrito War of Flavors, an innovative new cigar handcrafted entirely by hand and shaped without a cigar mold.

The cigar’s distinctive name is derived from a term coined at the El Credito® Cigar Factory in Santiago, DR.  El Perrito (translation: little dog) was created by two cigar factory supervisors (Robert Batista and Juan Almonte) who brought their concept for a small, powerhouse cigar to El Credito’s Michael Giannini (director of marketing) and Yuri Guillen (director of manufacturing). The supervisors came to Michael and Yuri, raving about how they made the cigars and describing the taste experience as a battle of flavors in the mouth. Michael and Yuri sampled the prototypes and the rest, as they say, is history.

For Japan, Japan Tsunami Relief

<FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE>

On March 11, 2011, an 8.9-magnitude earthquake hit the island of Japan -- the biggest earthquake in Japanese official record. The tsunami that followed caused unprecedented devastation on a level unseen by the Japanese people since War World II.

The voices and images of desperation have struck deeply in the hearts and souls of the Dominican people whom, for many decades, have built a close bond with Japan. La Aurora Cigar Factory has echoed the expressions of solidarity of its employees and suppliers, and is glad to announce the creation of a special edition cigar to help the humanitarian response to this disaster. “We are very pleased to lay our helping hand to our brothers of Japan by supporting the humanitarian assistance to this great nation,” says Guillermo Leon, President of La Aurora. “When hurricanes have struck the Dominican Republic, Japan was there for us,” Leon added. Proceeds from the sales of this cigar will be donated to the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief fund through JAPAN TOBACCO IMEX CO. LTD.

The cigar named “Para Japón” or “For Japan” is a 5” x 50, medium to full bodied vitola, made with selected premium tobacco leaves. These cigars have been aged during three years and its blend is something really unique with an exquisite Nicaraguan wrapper. Its package of 25 Sumo Robustos is decorated with special artwork by Mario Takeyama and Dan Reeve, the design team of CigarExplorer.com. Being involved in this project was important and personal to Cigar Explorer, as founder Mario is a native of Japan and still has many friends and family living there.

The “Para Japón” cigar will be available thru La Aurora distributors on April.

For US market, The “Para Japón” cigar will be distributed by Miami Cigar & Company, La Aurora US Exclusive Distributor.

Graycliff Hotel & Restaurant, Cigars

GRAYCLIFF’S GHOSTLY PIRATE PATROLS THE RAMPARTS!
- An 18th century buccaneer still searches for the Captain who took him prisoner

Nassau, Bahamas (September 30, 2010) -- Every old estate and castle has a story of intrigue and mayhem, and Graycliff, the 18th-century mansion which is the centerpiece of the fabled 5-Star Graycliff Hotel and Restaurant, is no exception.  By all accounts, the Graycliff wraith is focused on finding his tormentor and bringing him to justice, pirate-style.  It is supposed to be the spirit of a seaman, captured by Captain Graysmith, the notorious pirate who retired with his riches and built the mansion on a hill.  Graysmith needed the hilltop site to afford him a full view of the harbor so that he could inspect his fleet from the comfort of his opulent surroundings.  Retired though he was, the pirate in him would brook no confrontation and he ruled his fleet with an iron hand.

The legend of the prisoner in the galleon was widespread, but only quietly whispered so as not to reach the ears of the feared Captain.  It is said that a seaman challenged Graysmith on his share of a bounty and in a rage, the Captain had him thrown into the brig of his flagship.  The prisoner was only known as The Voice.  No one saw him after he was locked up and only his jailer heard him speak and clank of his shackles.  The Voice stayed in there until a fearsome storm took the great galleon to its watery grave at the bottom of the Spanish Sea (as the Caribbean Sea was known long ago).

Today, The Voice roams the perimeter of the mansion, sometimes knocking on doors, looking for his cruel captor.  If you hear a moaning and a knocking, it might be the wind in the willows... or it might just be The Voice on his determined search starting in the cellar and making his rounds.  Come check it out.  You might get lucky!
